You can receive unencrypted HDTV programs over antenna or cable with EyeTV 500, but not satellite TV.
The full widescreen image is 1920 by 1080. You can view this at a smaller size if your screen is not HD ready. 4:3 content will be displayed normally.
Using EyeTV software version 1.6 or higher, you can also export EyeTV content to any format that QuickTime supports, such as MPEG-4 or DV.
The EyeTV 500 product requires a "G4 500 MHz or better" processor. Why is that?
A: Decoding MPEG-2 video is a very CPU-intensive task. EyeTV will not be able to decode MPEG-2 content in real-time on a slower processor. It takes a dual processor G5 to display full size, full frame rate HDTV.
