Mobile-Phone Sales Rose Better-Than-Expected 6% in '02

More than 423 million mobile phones were sold world-wide in 2002, 6% more than the previous year, according to a study released Monday by Dataquest Inc., a unit of market-research firm Gartner Inc. .
